27 th July - 2 th of August: my first solo sailing trip on the ocean

On 27 th we sailed back to Marina Del Sur in the south of Tenerife. Soraya had to fly back to Belguim for hospital and dentist  visits. Meanwhile,  Jan was shaking all over due to the swell in the poorly protected harbour. A discomfort that was heavily compensated with  several visites at McDoalds. On the 29th Soraya flew back to Tenerife North.

The weather forecast predicted a good window  between the 2nd and 4th. Knowing we had to go through the channel from South to North again, this was our boarding call. Soraya went solo to San Sebastian, while Jan picked up 2 crewmembers at airport Tenerife South. Once again the forecast predicted a pleasant 10 knots, that in the end turnen out to be well over 25 in the channel. Bottomline, look at the forecast, then add 15 knots.

Soya teamed up with our friend and neighbour in Arecife Michael' a German guy and his boat Amaral. He hadhis new girlfriend aboard with little boat exerience and a tough to ignore tendency to get seasick. Poor thing. After a choppy 5 hours the wind calmed down, and I motorled into the port of sanxsebastian where Jan waited ... without the crew. The ladied didn't eat during the flight, so the went for kebab. An action the kinda set the tone or the rest of their stay. Michael and Isabelle  decided  to go further without a break in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.  That night we revenged with having the best pizza of our Life (really) in Santa Cruz ... just the 2 of us!
